The Night of San Juan
La Noche de San Juan, declared of National Tourist Interest, is a
festival that takes place during the night of June 23 as the
summer solstice celebration.
Shortly before midnight, along the promenade there is a
cavalcade of 'witches' that ends with the lighting of a large
bonfire on the beach of Riazor.
At midnight hundreds of small fires are lit on the beaches of A
Coruña offering a spectacle of light and color, accompanied by
fireworks. Tradition says that the number of fires that one jumps
over should not be an even number.
