Beaches of Barcelona
Barcelona has 7 beaches (San Sebastian, Barceloneta, Nova Icària, Bogatell, Mar Vella, Nova Mar Bella and Llevant) totaling more than 4 km.
These beaches were recovered by exploiting the urban redevelopment of the coastline in 1992, during the Olympic Games in Barcelona. Some, like the Llevant, are newly created, having joined the beaches of the city in the summer of 2006.
Along the Barcelona coast there are many sports clubs that allow water sports. In the warmer months the beaches offer beach bars where you can enjoy food, drink and music late into the night.
