Plaza San Jaime of Barcelona
The Plaza San Jaime (Plaça Sant Jaume, in Catalan) was the center of Roman Barcelona and has remained to this day the political center of the city.
The square is named after the church dedicated to Saint James that was demolished in the early eighteenth century. In the square the fourteenth-century town hall and the Palau de la Generalitat, the seat of the Catalan government, stand face to face.
