St. James Cathedral of Bilbao
The St. James Cathedral (Catedral de Santiago, in spanish) was built between the 14th and 16th in Gothic style, although its tower and façade were reconstructed in Gothic revival in the 19th century. The Cathedral is dedicated to the Apostle James the Great, patron of Bilbao since 1643. The church acquired rank of Cathedral in 1949 and since then it has been the seat of the Diocese of Bilbao.
The Cathedral was designed primarily for worship, with a Gothic cloister which is exceptional for its cloisters.
