The Cathedral of Santa Maria de Burgos
The Cathedral of Santa Maria de Burgos is the tallest building
representative of the city. It was declared a World Heritage Site
by Unesco in 1984.
It was built between 1221 and 1260, but had significant
changes in the XV and XVI century, the hands of the facade,
Chapel of the Constable and the dome of the transept.
Burgos Cathedral, in the Gothic style, has many architectual treasures
inside including sculptural and pictoral. The Highlights bveing the
plateresco Gothic dome, the chapel of the Constable (a wonder
Elizabethan Gothic), the choir stalls, the Holy Christ
Burgos (image of great devotion in Burgos) and the tomb of the Cid and his
wife Doña Jimena.

Burgos is the popular Flycatcher, a watch with a hinged statue
that opens its mouth every hour and moves its right arm to drive the
bell clapper. This famous robot is featured in the
works of Benito Perez Galdos' Chamartín Napoleon 'and' Fortunata y
