Corpus Christi of Granada
Corpus Christi is celebrated on the Thursday following the eighth Sunday after Easter Sunday.
It is a traditional festival with over 500 years of history. For eight days, people dress in typical Andalusian costume, ride in horse drawn carriages,go on fairground rides, bullfights are held and both the Plaza Nueva and Plaza de Bib-Rambla are filled with tapas bars, where you can taste hundreds of dishes.
The highlight of the Corpus Christi is the grand procession which leaves the Cathedral with an idol on a carriage decorated with flowers. The procession is preceded by giants and huge heads representing Christians and Moors.
