Praise to the Virgin of the Assumption of La Alberca
The Praise to the Virgin of the Assumption (Loa de la Virgen de la Asunción, in Spanish), which has been declared of National Tourist Interest tradition takes place every 15 to 16 August.
This festival focuses on both the offering to the Virgin as the loa to it.
On the 15th (known as Diagosto) all the people dress in their costumes and accompany the Virgin between music and dance to the square. Once there, the men kneel three times the knee while doing the offering. The ceremony concluded with folk dancing.
The next day the sacramental act of the praise, which lasts about an hour. The central characters are The Funny and The Devil. The Devil, riding a dragon, will loose the battle against the Archangel Michael.
