Atocha Train Station of Madrid
The Atocha Train Station (Estación de Atocha, in spanish) in Madrid is the largest in Spain. Inaugurated in 1851, it is one of the most renowned of Madrid.
The facade highlights the nineteenth century style of the station. Its atrium, which was formerly platforms, has been turned into a humid greenhouse of tropical plants, it covers 4000 square meters and houses more than 500 species, including carnivorous plants, water, goldfish and turtles.
In the vicinity of the station is a monument in memory of the victims of Islamist terrorist attack that took place in 2004 in the vicinity of Atocha.
