National Library of Spain in Madrid
The National Library of Spain is located on the Paseo de Recoletos in Madrid, sharing a building with the National Archeological Museum. It is the main Spanish library and the center of the depositary Spanish bibliographic heritage. It has a collection of more than 17 million documents.
It was founded by Philip V in 1712 as the Royal Library, with the dual role of bringing knowledge to citizens and to collect libraries of the nobles.The library has a huge catalog of books and other documents, including more 80,000 ancient books prior from pre 1830.
