Plaza de Cibeles of Madrid
The Plaza de Cibeles takes its name from the eponymous fountain, dedicated to the Greek goddess Cibeles, wife of Crono and mother of Atis.
Plaza de Cibeles is located at the intersection of Calle de Alcala and the Paseo de Recoletos and Paseo del Prado. This place, one of the most symbolic of the capital, marks the boundaries of the districts Centro, Retiro and Salamanca.
The Plaza de Cibeles is surrounded on all sides by imposing buildings, including the Fountain of Cibeles, Buenavista Palace, Palacio de Linares, Palace of Communications and the Bank of Spain.
