Reina Sofia Museum and Art Center in Madrid
The National Museum Art Centre Sofia Queen (Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, in spanish) better know as Reina Sofia Museum is the national museum of 20th century art.
The museum is located at the former Hospital of San Carlos, an eighteenth century building.
Chronologically, the museum's collections are an extension of El Prado Museum, to cover the period from the nineteenth century to today.
Much of the works come from the former Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art. In 2005 a large extension was opened, designed by French architect Jean Nouvel.
