Greater Cape Park of Santander
The Greater Cape Park (Parque del Cabo Mayor, in Spanish) is located 3.5 kilometers northeast of the city´s center, in the nearby town of Cueto.
Its coastline is formed by high cliffs overlooking the sea. The park is divided into two areas known as the Greater Cape and Minor Cape.
Crowning the bay is a 30m tall lighthouse, the oldest in Cantabria, built in the year 1839 by Felipe Bauza. In this area we also find the Mataleñas beach (within the park's natural Mataleñas), and Molinucos Puente del Diablo (produced by an erosion of the sea on a rock) and the Pantheon English (tomb of William Rowland).
