Velá de Santa Ana in Triana
La Velá de Santa Ana, which is held every year July 21st until July 26th, it is dedicated to Santiago and Santa Ana has its origins in an ancient pilgrimage that is made to the Parish of Santa Ana since the late s. XIII.
La Velá de Santa Ana takes place in the Triana district, specifically on Calle Betis, which is filled with booths where visitors encounter a wide variety of tapas (fried fish is king of the covers), drinks and music.
In the nearby Plaza del Altozano installing a scenario in which every night is a performance.
The river also becomes the protagonist in Santa Ana Velá. The Guadalquivir is the scene of regattas, fishing competitions and especially the Maypole. The latter is to anchor a barge, from which emerges a horizontal pole smeared with grease, and the young people of the city have to slide to collect the flag that is at the end of the post.
