Alcantara Bridge and San Martin Bridge of Toledo
Both the San Martin Bridge and the Bridge of Alcántara
were declared a National Monument in 1921.
The Alcántara Bridge is the oldest. Dating from the Roman era
although it was rebuilt in the thirteenth century. Then they built
the West tower which was modified and decorated by the Catholic King and Queen
whose weapons decorate the walls. The east tower was
replaced by a triumphal arch in 1721, as it was very
damaged.
The Bridge of San Martín already existed in the fourteenth century. It
has five arches and hexagonal towers at the ends.
