Founded in the XI century, the monastery of Roncesvalles is one of the most important places of the Way. The Colegiata can be visited from 8:00 to 210. It was consecrated in the year 1219 and it has stained glasses of the XII century and an image of the Virgin of Roncesvalles of the XIV century. The museum and the cloisters can be visited as well but you have to buy a ticket before (from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 15:30 to 19:00, November to December until 17:30).
A pilgrim mass is celebrated every night. It is a powerful experience in which pilgrims are blessed in an ancient ritual whose origin dates from many centuries ago.
Roncesvalles has a Tourist Office located at Antiguo Molino (Old Windmill). Telephone: 948 760 301 www.roncesvalles.es
The next village, Burguete, is 3.1 km away
