Stage 15:Boadilla del Camino-Carrion de los Condes(25.9 km)
Boadilla del Camino-Frómista:0-6,0 km
Fromista-Poblacion de Campos: 6,0-9,1(3,1km)
Alternative route through Villovieco
(3)Poblacion de Campos-(4)Villovieco:9,1-13,6(4,5km)
(4)Villovieco-(5)Villalcazar de Sirga:13,6-20,1(6,5km)
(5)Villalcazar de Sirga-(6)Carrion de los Condes:20,1-25,9(5,8 km)
The first part of this stage, which leads until Fromista, follows along the beautiful Canal de Castilla. On the second part of the stage, from the Poblacion de Campos, we are presented with an option of two routes. We have elected to take the route of Villovieca in order to avoid the monotony of the road.
(1)Boadilla del Camino-(2)Fromista: 0-6.0 km
At the exit of Boadilla we take a path to the left (photo 1) which leads us to the canal de Castilla at the 2.0 km (photo 2). The Canal de Castilla (photo 3) is an engineering work from the 18th century constructed to transport goods between the Castilian capitals and the port of Santander. The sacks of grain travelled on barges drawn by mules who passed along the path which is today walked by pilgrims. The works were never completed but they left behind 207 km of canal and some remarkable floodgates like the quadruple of Fromista (photo 4).
Arriving at the floodgate we take a right along P-431 highway which leads us to the centre of Fromista.
(2)Fromista-(3)Poblacion de Campos: 6.0-9.1(3.1km)
We leave Fromista along the P-980 highway, and afterwards cross the national P-611 over a bridge and and the motorway over another. We continue along a path that runs parallel to the highway (photo 5) and which leads us to the entrance of Poblacion de Campos (photo 6).
(3)Poblacion de Campos-(4)Villovieco: 9.1-13.6(4.5km)
At the exit of Poblacion de Campos, just after we cross the Ucieza river (photo 7), we are presented with two options. Cross the river and follow the road passing the towns of Revenga de Campos and Villamentero de Campos. Or don’t cross the river and take a right which brings us to Villovieco. In this guide we have opted for the second option due to the monotony of following along the road in the first option.
We continue then on the right side of the river along a wide dirt track (photo 8) which brings us directly to Villovieco (photo 9).
(4)Villovieco-(5)Villalcazar de Sirga: 13.6-20.1(6.5km)
In Villovieca we cross the river a continue along its left banks on dirt paths (photo 10). At approximately the 15,3 km of the stage we come to a path that leads to the left ( See on the map the detour marked in green). If we take it it brings us 300 metres to the town of Villarmentero de Campos, from where there leaves another alternative route and which has a hostel. (see photo: Villarmentero de Campos). If you continue straight along the same path (photo 11) you will come to a road and and a bridge to your right (photo 12). We take a left along the road (photo 13) and come to Villalcazar de Sirga, where the two routes meet.
(5)Villalcazar de Sirga-(6)Carrion de los Condes: 20.1-25.9(5.8 km)
The path to Carrion de los Condes has not a lot of history and just follows the monotonous path running parallel to the road (photo 14 and 15) until we arrive at Carrion de los Condes (photo 16).
