Stage 23:Ponferrada-Villafranca del Bierzo (24,0 km)

Description
An easy stage, the highlight being the the uphill climb from the exit of Cacabelos. The first part of the stage passes through the villages around Ponferrada, while on the second part we pass through vineyards.
(1)Ponferrada-(2)Columbrianos: 0-5.3 km
We leave the Hostel of Ponferrada along the avenida del Castillo until we reach a roundabout ( photo 1) where we take a right onto the calle Pregoneros which leads us to the Castillo del Temple (photo 2). We leave the Castillo taking a left and continue along the calle Gil y Carrasco (photo 3) which brings us to the Plaza de Encina (photo 4). We leave the plaza along the the steps of the calle del Rañadero which take us to the Avenida de la Puebla (photo 5) where we turn left. We cross the bridge over the river Sil and take a right along the Avenida de las Huertas del Sacramento ( photo 6). We continue along the avenue until the “Monumento a los donantes de sangre” (photo 7) where we take a right onto the Avenida de libertad (photo 8). Past the roundabout we take a right onto the Avenida Segunda and continue straight ahead (photo 9.10,11 and 12 ) until we reach the Nacional (photo 13). We continue straight to the church of San Blas y San Roque (photo 14) which we find in Columbrianos.
(2)Columbrianos-(3)Fuentes Nuevas: 5.3-8.0(2.7 km)
We follow a small road from the exit of Columbrianos (photo15) until we get to Fuente Nuevas.
(3)Fuentes Nuevas- (4)Camponaraya: 8.0-9.8(1.8 km)
We follow the same road, passing along the cemetery (photo 16) until it meets the road entering into Camponaraya (photo 17).
(4)Camponaraya-(5)Cacabelos: 9.8-16.0(6.2 km)
We cross Camponaraya along the main street and leave along the road. At the town exit, at the 11.4 km, we leave the road (photo 18) and turn right onto a path which brings us to a bridge that crosses the the road (photo 19). A dirt path between vineyards (photo 20) will lead us to a junction with a secondary road (photo 21). We continue straight ahead and along a small tarmacadam road we enter into Carcabelos.
(5)Cacabelos-(6)Pieros: 16.0-18.0(2.0km)
We cross Cacabelos along the calle Cimavilla, passing the church of Santa Maria and crossing over the river Cua, a tributary of the river Sil. We continue straight ahead along the road (photo 22) which ascending, brings us to Pieros.
(6)Pieros-Vantuille de Arriba: 18-19.8(1.8 km)
We leave Pieros taking a right and continuing uphill along the road to where we take a right (photo 23) onto another secondary road. We follow the tarmac for 300 metres and then take a left onto a dirt path which runs between vineyards (photo 25) and which leads us to Vantuille de Arriba (photo 26).
(7)Vantuille de Arriba-(8)Villafranca del Bierzo: 19.8-24.0(4.2 km)
We pass through Vantuille followin the arrows and take a dirt path (photos 27 and 28) which brings us to Villafranca.
