Stage 26:Triacastela-Sarria (18,0km)
(2)Balsa-(3)San Xil:2,3-4,0 (1,7km)
At the end of the main street of Triacastela we meet a poster (photo 1) which shows us the two routes which can be followed for this day. If we take a right we go through San Xil; if we take a left we will go through Samos. Both of the routes are beautiful. The one through San Xil is 6 km shorter and is through very beautiful landscape. The route through Samos is longer and there is more of it along the road but it gives us the opportunity to see the Monastery of Samos. In this guide we have opted to take the first route which goes through San Xil, because we feel the landscape is more beautiful.
At the end of the main street of Triacastela we meet a poster (photo 1) which shows us the two routes which can be followed for this day. We take a right , cross the road and head in the direction of San Xil. Along a slope through a bushy borest (photo 2) we come to the four houses which make up the village of Balsa. (photo 3).
(2)Balsa-(3)San Xil: 2.3-4,0 (1.7km)
We cross Balsa and following up a steep climb we come to Sab Xil (photo 4).
(3)San Xil-(4)Montan: 4.0-7.9(3.9km)
The path continues uphill, although now at a more gentle slope, between fields bringing us to the peak of Riocabo, from where you can marvel upon the view of the Sarria valley. Now descending the path brings us to Montan (photo 5)
Descending, and through oak forests we follow the path which leads us to the LU-502 local road along which we enter into Furela (photo 6).
We cross Furela and leave along the road which we leave a little further on, onto a path to the right which brings us to Pintin (photo 7).
We leave Pintin along the road and roughly following its course we come to Calvor.
We continue along the road, and just before arriving to the town we take a detour which brings us to the town centre of Aguiada (photo 8). At this point we join we the other route that went through Samos.
(8)Aguiada-(9)San Mamede: 13.4-14.1(0.7km)
We continue along the road which brings us to Mamede where the only thing there is a hostel.
(9)San Mamede-(10)Sarria: 14.1-18.0(3.9km)
We follow the road (photo 9) and arrive to Sarria along a footpath. The route through Samos At the end of the main street of Triacastela we turn left and take the LU-633 road which we follow until we leave it to the right into San Cristobal do Real (4.0 km). We leave the town and take a path through the valley of the river Ouribio. We pass through the towns of Renche, Lastres, Freituxe and San Martiño do Real before arriving to Samos. We leave Samos along the LU-633 road. 2 km from Samos we leave the road onto a path leading uphill. We follow the arrows passing through the villages of Pascais, Gorolfe, Veiga de Reiriz, Sivila and Perros. From Perros a short climb takes us to the main path, at the height of Aguida, where it joins the path of the route through San Xil.
