After the nice walk out of Logroño, the city waves goodbye at the Parque de la Grajera and gives way to the scenery of the stage: fields of grape vines.
We leave Logroño along the calle Marques de Murrieta following the arrows on the ground (see photo 1) and we get to the Parque de la Grajera (see photo 2), the urban park of the city of Logroño which we can cross all along footpaths. After the modest peak of Granjera (see photo 3)
it is downhill all the way to Navarrete (see photo 4 and 5).
Navarrete is located on a hill and at the peak of the hill lies the gothic church of Asuncion (see photo 6) from the 11th century. We leave the town along the road passing by the cemetery (see photo 7) which has preserved the facade of the demolished Pilgrims hospital of San Juan de Arce, founded in 1185. In it there is represented various scenes of the daily life of pilgrims.
Just at the point where we find the cemetery (see photo 7) we leave the road onto a dirt path (see photo 8). This path leads until a junction of the LR-342 (see photo 9). If we take a left along this highway it will take us to Sotes, where there is a hostel 1.3km away as indicated by the sign.
If we continue along this way it will bring us close to the A-12 motorway (see photo 10) and continues parallel to it until the 17.9 km of the stage. At this point a sign for Ventosa invites us to take a left (see photo 11). If you want to pass through the town of Ventosa, which has a hostel, take the turn. If you don’t want to enter the town you have the option of continuing straight on parallel to the motorway (less than 600 metres) and rejoining the camino further along (see photo 13).
(3)Ventosa-(4)Najera: 19.2-28.7(9.5 km)
If we have decided to pass through Ventosa we leave it at the top part at the point indicated in photo 12 which brings us to the point indicated in photo 13 where the path joins the path parallel to the highway. Past this point we face the discrete, but rocky peak of San Anton ( see photo 14)
and on the way down pass the warehouse buildings of Dinastia Vivanco (see photo 15). This path brings us close to the road where we continue along a gravel path between vineyards (see photo 16). We enter into Najera through a somewhat rundown area cross the villa to the Najerilla river.
