Stage 1: Porto-Vilarinho (km 25,5)
To start the camino we have chose the San Luis Bridge, this being a symbolic part of the city. After abandoning the centre of the port , following the arrows we cross over the metropolitan area of Porto.
In Araujo (km 9,5) we find ourselves with the first important decision of the camino. Straight after passing the poster of Aruajo and the Church of Aruajo we can see that there are arrows that indicate that we should continue straight ahead down the same street that we were going or to take a turn down to the left. Here we must carry on straight ahead and not pay attention to the arrows that tell us to take a turn. If we follow the arrows and take a turn they will take us to an extremely dangerous road crossing and its not worth risking your life for the sake of crossing that road.
The journey between Porto and Vilarinho is completely flat.
Where to eat?
In the first 10 km you will have to cross the urban area of the port. In these first km you can find various bars and restaraunts. However after passing Aruajo there you will find yourself in a less densely populated area of the camino. Coming to the km 18,3 3, in Mosteiro, there is a restaraunt (see map) and that the end of the stage going through Vilarinho there are varios bars where you can grab something to eat.
The only possibility of finding somewhere to stay is at the final stage going through Vilarinho, where there are two available hostels but no hotels.
