Ponte de Lima-Rubiaes: 0-17,2 km

Description

In this stage we will come across the steepest upwards slope out of all the portuguese camino, the ascent to La Portela Grande de la Bruja. There is 2.5 kms of increase which startes approximately around the km 10,0 of this stage. If you are doing this stage on a bike you should follow the option highlighted on the map in orange: road M522 and after that road N201, which separates from the pedestrian option on the km 10,2 (see map)

Where to eat

In the km 4,9 we can find a peculiar place, Parque de Pescas Riba Rio. It is a trout farm where they also serve food (look in the town section)

If you go by foot you won’t find anywhere to eat until Rubiaes, where there is a restaurant called Bom Retiro.

If you go by bike, in the N.-201 you can find the restaurant Pedras Finas where you can eat really well. There are also a few bars on the road going down towards Rubiaes.

Where to sleep

At the end of this stage, in Rubiaes there is a hostel. A little bit before this hostel on the km 15,9, where the bike track and pedestrian way join there is also a hostel, El Repouso do Peregrino, the alternative option to use.
