Description
In A Gudiña the camino splits and there are two options: go by Verín or by Laza. In this guide we do the Laza way.
We leave Gudiña down the Main Street that leads to the main square where two scallops indicating two alternative routes divides the camino. We'll take the route to the right (which goes by Laza) and that takes us to a road with little traffic (photo 1 km 1.3) to which will take us most of the stage.
Follow road to along a slight incline to A Venda do Espino at km 4.4 (photo 2) a small village without any services. Enter and exit the village and continue along the road (photo 3 km 6.4) until km 7.3 (photo 4) where we take a road on the right hand side which leads to Venda da Teresa, located just behind the junction.
Follow the road (photo 5 km 8.8) until you arrive at Venda Capela (photo 6 km 9.9).
Continue along the road (photo 7) until 10.9 km (photo 8) where we leave the road, but in reality it is just short cut and after a few meters we return again to the same road (photo 9 km 12.1).
At 12.7 km we reach Venda Bolaño (photo 10), another small village, much like the others we passed, with 4 houses and no services for pilgrims.
We pass through Venda Bolaño and continue down the same road (photo 11 km 14.5) until the 15.9 km (photo 12) where we turn to leave the road (photos 13 and 14 if followed by road) but as before, return to it again at 19.1 km (photo 15). After a few meters at 19.4 km we will see the entrance sign of Campobecerros.
In Campobecerros there is a bar where we can eat and rest. It is the only place to eat between Gudiña and Laza.
We leave Campobecerros following the road uphill to the village of Portocamba (photo 17 km 22.7) which we cross to continue along the highway.
After approximately 1 km after Portocamba we leave the road onto a path in good condition (photos 18 and 19) that will lead us to the village of As Eiras (photo 20 km 28.2).
We leave As Eiras along a road (photos 21, 22 and 23) that leads us, downhill all the way to the village of A Laza where we find a hostel and other services for pilgrims.
