Description
We leave the hostel on the avenue by which we arrived the day before, although it is no longer called Peña Trevinca but now Avenue of Emilia Pardo Bazan. After a few meters we turn left and follow the Avenida de La Habana that takes us to the Puente Viejo over which we will cross the river Miño (photo 1 km 1.6). Continue straight down the avenue of Caldas and here we are presented with a choice.
We can continue straight on Costiña de Canedo or turn right onto the Avenida of Santiago and follow the path to Cudeiro. This second option is the one which we have chosen in this guide.
We follow the Avenida de Santiago which takes us out of Orense. Arriving at a gas station we will have to turn right onto the Camino Real.
Following Camino Real will take us through the N-525 and to the little town of Cudeiro (photo 2 km 4.0).
From km 4.0 there begins a steep climb (photo 3 km 4.4) that takes us from about 150 meters up to almost 500 m. This incline of the Camino Real is paved with granite for the first half (photo 4 km 5.5). On the way down we will pass the small centre of Sartedigos. We come to a paved road and turn right onto the path leading off the road (km 7.2). After only 50 m we take a right onto a path at the foot Fonte de Santo bypass, which leads us down a tarmacadam path that rises slightly up Outeiros da Forca. The climb ends at 8.5 km.
After the climb we continue on tarmac road (photo 5 km 9.3) along the camino (photo 6 km 10.6), we cross the N-525 and arrive to the small town of Tallancos (photo 7 km 12.6). We continue a further kilometre to Bouzas, crossing over the N-525 (photo 8 km 13.6). 500 meters more and we pass through the small village of Sobrerira. None of these small villages have any services. We continue the camino and at km 16.4 (photo 9) cross a stone 14th century bridge over the river Barbantiño.
We continue and not long after arrive at Faramontanos. At the town entrance we take a left and continue the camino with the N-525 on our left until we arrive to the small town of Viduedo (photo 10 km 18.5) where the camino meets the N-525 highway.
We follow the N-525 for 200 metres and then turn off it to the right. Along a path (photo 11 km 20.1) we arrive at Casanova. We continue along a path which runs through pine trees crossing the OU-405 and we meet the first houses of Cea, and soon afterwards pass under a bridge of the OU-504. We continue along a path that brings us across a bridge over a stream and take a left which leads to the hostel.
