Description
We leave the hostel A Laxe following the N-525. In Vilasoa we leave the N-525 highway and take a left onto a small tarmacadam road. This small road takes us in 1.4 km back to the N-525 highway and up to the town of Prado. We follow the N-525 highway for 400 metres and and again leave it taking a left (photo 3 km 2.3).
We follow the camino (photo 4 km 3.5) until the bridge Ponte Taboada over the Deza river (photo 5 km 4.8). After the bridge we will come to a hill where the path runs between the houses of Taboada and will bring us close to the N-525 highway where there is the Roman church of Santiago de Taboada (photo 6 km 6.1).
We follow the N-525 for just 50 meters and leave to the left onto a small road that leads to some industrial buildings, where we again turn left. We follow this small path that leads to the small town of Transfontao. We then follow a path between trees that leads to Silleda, a medium size town which has lots of services for pilgrims. In Silleda you will find the hostel Santa Olaia which is only open from July 1st to September 30th. We cross Silleda (photo 8 km 9.4) and leave the town along the N-525. At km 10.3 (photo 9) we leave the highway (photo 10 km 10.6) although we continue with it to our right until we turn left towards the small town of San Fiz. We cross the small village of San Fiz and leave it along the road, where after a few meters, we turn right. We then continue down a path that we will follow until we are almost at the N-525, where it will link with another small road that runs along the left side of the N-525 and brings us to a bridge that will take us across the AP-53 motorway. We continue through a landscape of scattered houses (photo 11 km 14.9) until we get to the village of Bandeira, with services for pilgrims and accommodation for pilgrims to sleep although there is no hostel.
We cross Bandeira by the main street which is the N-525 that brings us to the end of the village, where we turn right onto the secondary road PO-6511 which we will follow until the small town of Dornellas (photo 12 km 21.4). We continue along small roads and follow the arrows to the small towns of O Seixo (photo 13 km 25.4) and O Castro (photo 14 km 27.2) where there is a bar.
From the village of O Castro we find a steep descent (photo 15 km 28.3) that will take us first to the puente viejo bridge (photo 16 km 28.9) and later the puente nuevo bridge (photo 17 km 29.3) into the town of Ponte Ulla where we find bars and restaurants.
We cross Ponte Ulla by the main street, which once again is the N-525, taking us to the edge of town, where we take a path on the right going uphill that will lead to a small road (photo 18 km 31.1) and to a path (photo 19 km 32.5) which, from there will take us to the Outeiro Hostel.
