Stage 5: Calzadilla de Tera-Rionegro del Puente (17.5 km)
Sections
Calzadilla – Olleros de Tera (0-2.1)
Olleros de Tera – Villar de Farfón (2.1-10.2 Km)
Villar de Farfón – Rionegro del Puente (10.2-17.5 Km)
Description
We leave the hostel and cross the whole town along the street calle Eras and then the calle de la Fuente and after half a kilometre we leave the concrete behind and get our feet back on a path. We travel along a small path which after only 1.6 km (photos 1 and 2) leads to the neighboring town of Olleros of Tera.
We enter Olleros by the Caño street, and continue along calle de la Iglesia onto calle de las Eras.
There used to be a hostel in Olleros but now it is closed. There are two bars and a shop.
We leave Olleros along an old tarmacadam road with many patches and some potholes (photo 3 km 5.7) which at 6.1 km leads to a another tarmacadam road, this one in good condition, where we take a right which brings us to a dam (photo 5 km 6.6).
We cross the dam and take a left along another tarmacadam road which runs along the banks of the marsh (photos 6 and 7) for a little more than 2.5 km where it joins with the ZA-L-2564 highway at the entrance of Villar de Farfón (photo 8 km 9.8). This journey across the marsh is absolutely beautiful.
We cross the small town of Villar de Farfón (photo 9 km 10.2) and leave along a small stony (photos 10 and 11) and sometimes muddy (depending on the season) path, which we traverse for 6 km before arriving at Rionegro del Puente.
In Rionegro there are a couple of bars but there is no shop.
