Valdelacasa – Fuenterroble de Salvatierra: 12.3-20.5 (8.2 km)
Description
We leave Calzada de Bejar crossing the small town and joining the highway (photo 1). For 500 meters we continue along until the trail leaves the highway by way of a right turn. Here there is a piece of road that can be quite muddy (photo 2 km 1.3) but after the SA-220 highway becomes a solid dirt road (photos 3 and 4). After 6.4 km we reach a stream with stones placed in it for us to cross along (photo 5 km 6.4). Just past the creek we find the CM-316 where we turn right and continue for 200 meters to where we can rejoin the trail. This time on our left (photo 6 km 7.6).
We arrive in Valverde de Valdecasa at km 8.6. Next to the church and just before crossing the road DSA-243 through the village, we pass the small and shabby, Nenúfar hostel. If you want to drink or eat a sandwich follow the road 200 meters and at the end of the village there is a bar (photo 7 km 9.0). There are no supermarkets or any other services.
To get to Valdelacasa from Valverde de Valdelacasa you take the DSA-243 highway for 3.7 km (photos 8 and 9). There is another bar in Valdeacasa although it’s not exactly part of the camino. If we want to go to the bar, to reach the SA-214 road, which we will cross at km 12.3 (photo 10), turn right along the highway and after about 200 meters you will arrive at a building which has “Centro de dia” written on it in large letters.
From Valdelacasa to Fuenterroble we continue along the highway from which we arrived. At km 14.1 we will see a turnoff to the left indicated by arrows and a poster with a quarry in the background (photo 11). If you are cycling it is recommended to follow the highway (photo 12). You only need do this for 200 meters to avoid an impassable piece of the camino. At km 18.3 the two paths rejoin (photo 13). We continue for 2 km (photo 14 km 19.7), and after enter Fuenterroble de Salvatierra by Larga street, where we find the Hostel.
