Description

Keep straight on by the Paseo del Malecón until you approach the Puente Viejo (the old bridge) which you should cross (photo 1 km 0.3). Turn to the left at Campo San Antonio Square (photo 2 km 0.4) where you should continue on the right side of the square for about 400 meters by the street that has the same name as the square. When you reach a crossroads with a house in the middle of it, take the hand-left street (photo 3 km 0.8). You will pass in front of the supermarket Halley (photo 4 km 1.0). Keep straight on until you approach a traffic circle (photo 5 km 1.3) where you should take the third exit (photo 6 km 1.3) and immediately after the first exit on the right (towards A Vide) (photo 7 km 1.4).

Keep straight on down this road for about 2 km and a half (photos 8, 9 and 10) until you get to A Corga, where you should make a detour to the left (photo 11 km 3.8). Go through the town (photos 12 and 13) until you reach again the road which you should cross to keep going through the town (photo 14 km 4.1) and to take a grass path (photo 15 km 4.2) of about 400 meters.

You will approach a dirt path then (photo 16 km 4.4). Cross it and keep straight on. After approximately 200 meters you should pass under the bridge by which the VG-2.1 road passes and shortly afterwards you should make a detour to the left (photo 18 km 4.7). BE CAREFUL because the next crossroads it is wrongly signposted since the boundary mark is damaged: This crossroads is a grass path located on the left (photo 19 km 4.8) that later turns into a dirt path (photo 20 m 5.8) and that then turns again into a grass path (photo 21 km 6.3). This crossroads may be impassable for cyclists in some segments. Finally, you should approach a country house. Go through it and shortly immediately after you will approach the entrance to Regueiro (photo 22 km 6.7).

Once you have passed these houses, you will reach the Church (photo 23 km 7.4). Follow the road that is in front of the church and that leads to another road where you should continue on the right (photo 24 km 7.5). This road gently slopes for about 1 km. Follow the road whose name is LU-P-3204 (photo 25 km 8.7) and at km 9.1 you will approach a crossroad where you should continue on the right (photo 26 km 9.1). Afterwards you will approach a new crossroads where you should keep straight on (photo 27 km 9.3). After approximately 700 meters, there is a detour to the left (photo 28 km 10.0) by a grass path with a sign that says “Reguengo”. This path is impassable for cyclists. .

At a certain moment, there is a boundary mark that indicates to continue on the left and after about 400 meters, the path will lead you to the small village of Castrotañe (photo 30 km 10.4). Go through it and carry on by a grass path. It may be impassable for cyclists at some points (photo 31 km 10.7), especially because of the big rocks that lay on the path.

At the first fork you should continue on the right (photo 32 km 10.8) and at the second one, located about 200 m ahead, you should continue on the right as well (photo 33 km 11.0). After less 100 meters, you will approach the town of Piñeiro. At the town, there is a fountain where you should keep straight on (photo 34 km 11.1). Afterwards you will reach the main road (photo 35 km 11.2). Cross the road and continue on the facing grass path that after 300 meters leads you again to the road. You have to cross this road and follow another facing path (photo 36 km 11.5). It is a new rock path whose first segment is impassable for cyclists (photo 37 km 11.7).

After a half kilometer, there is a new dirt path a little bit wider than the last one but that you will immediately leave since you should make a detour to the right (photo 38 km 12.0) by another grass path of about 100 meters. It will lead you to a road where you should continue on the right (photo 39 km 12.1). Afterwards, there is a new fork where you should continue on the left (photo 40 km 12.3).

After 300 meters, there is a signposted crossroads where you should continue on the right (photo 41 km 12.6) and less than 100 meters ahead, at the next crossroads, you should continue on the right as well (photo 42 km 12.7). Less than one kilometer further, there is a new crossroads but this time you should turn left (photo 44 km 13.6).

A little bit further, you will approach a paved path (photo 45 km 13.7) that leads you to the road (photo 46 km 14.1). Turn right and after about one kilometer you will reach a crossroads (BE CAREFUL, the yellow cross of the road indicating left is not a sign of the Winter Way. It is a sign of a sport competition) (photo 47 km 15.1).

Once you are at the crossroads, turn left. You will get to Casa Rural Vilariño (a rural house) where food is served and accommodation can be found. In order to continue the Winter Way, keep straight on.
