Description
Get out of the pilgrim refuge of A Laxe following the N-525 road. Leave the N-525 road at Vilasoa (photo 1 km 0.6) and turn left by a small paved road (photo 2 km 0.8). This small paved road will lead you, after 1.4 km, again to the N-525 road at the height of the town of Prado. Follow the N-525 road for about 400 meters and leave it again by the left (photo 3 km 2.3).
Follow the path (photo 4 km 3.5) until the Bridge Taboada over the Deza River (photo 5 km 4.8). After the bridge, you will find an ascent that goes through the houses of Taboada and that will lead you to the vicinity of the N-525 road where the Romanesque chuch of Santiago de Taboada is located (photo 6 km 6.1).
Follow the N-525 for no more than 50 meters and leave it by the left to take a small path that will lead you to some industrial units where you should turn left. Follow this little path that will lead you to the small town of Transfontao (km 7.7). Follow a path between trees (photo 7 km 7.9) that leads you to Silleda, a medium-sized population with all kind of services for pilgrims. At Silleda, the Albergue de Santa Olaia (a pilgrim refuge) is located but it is only open from 1st July to 30th September.
Go through Silleda (photo 8 km 9.4) and get out of the town by the N-525 road. At km 10.3 (photo 9) leave the road (photo 10 km 10.6) though you should have the road on your right until you turn left to approach the small town of San Fiz. Go through its small nucleus and leave it by a road to, just after a few meters, turn to the right. Then you will go into a path that you should follow until you reach the N-525 where you should link it with another small road that goes along the left side of the N-525 and that crosses the bridge of the AP-53 highway. Continue on a landscape of isolated houses (photo 11 km 14.9) until you get to the town of Bandeira, a town with all kind of services and accommodation for pilgrims although there are not pilgrim refuges.
Go through Bandera by its main street, which is the N-525, until the end of the town. Turn left by the secondary road PO-651 until you get to the small population of Dornellas (photo 12 km 21.4). Follow the small secondary roads and the arrows until you get to the town of O Seixo (photo 13 km 25.4) and the small town of O Castro (photo 14 km 27.2) where there is a pub.
At the town of O Castro you will find a steep slope (photo 15 km 28.3) that will lead you first to the puente viejo (old bridge) (photo 16 km 28.9) and later on to the puente nuevo (new bridge) (photo 17 km 29.3) of the town of Ponte Ulla where there are pubs and restaurants.
Go through Ponte Ulla by its main street, which once again is the N-525, to leave the town by its exit which is a hand-right path with a strong ascent. It will lead you to a small road (photo 18 km 31.1) and to a path (photo 19 km 32.5) that will take you to Hostel of Outeiro.
