Stage 15: Outeiro-Santiago (16,3km)
We finally end the journey and a great variety of pilgrim refuges are waiting for you at Santiago: Hostels of Santiago
Elevation (See Profile)
Hostel of Outeiro (1)-Rubial (2): 0-4,2 km
Rubial (2)-Susana (3): 4,2-7,6 (3,4 km)
Susana (3)-Piñeiro (4): 7,6-11,7 (4,1 km)
Piñeiro (4)-Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela (5): 11,7-16,3 (4,6 km)
Get out of Hostel of Outeiro by a forest track between eucalyptus trees. Keep straight on and ignore the crossroads (photo 1 km 1.5). At km 2.9 (photo 2) you will approach a crossroads where you should turn right and continue on the paved road. Go round the isolated houses and between grapevines. You will reach a point where the arrows indicate to keep straight on and the boundary mark of the Way of St. James to turn right. Follow the direction of the boundary mark to get to Rubial (km 4.2).
Get out of Rubial by a little paved road (photos 3 km 4.3 and 4 km 5.4) and follow it through the disseminated houses until you reach the small population of Susana (photo 5 km 7.6) where you should cross the N-525. Approximately one kilometer after the N-525 you will cross a bridge that passes across the railway tracks. After the bridge, turn left towards a sharp climb to, right after, confront a slope with a view to the valley. Continue on the paved track (photo 6 km 9.0) and go through the small village of Aldrei (photo 7 km 9.5). Shortly after, leaving Aldrei, you should cross the railway tracks. Keep going (photo 8 km 10.3) and after several turns, you will approach the hermitage of Santa Lucía (photo 9 km 11.4). 200 meters further, you will get to Piñeiro (photo 10 km 11) where you should follow the slope of the Camiño Real de Piñeiro Street that shortly after turns into a path. Always uphill, go under the AP-9 and immediately after over the railway tracks. Take a little break before entering Angrois and confort another climb by the Camiño Real de Angrois Street.
After crossing the road, take the rock path downhill by the Sar road (photo 11 km 14.2) and continue (photo 12 km 14.5) crossing the N-550 through a tunnel. Follow the Rua du Sar, that later turns into Tua du Castron Douro. It will lead you to the wider street, de Rua de Fonte San Antonio where you should turn left. Continue for a few meters and turn right by Rua das Orfas and take right away Rua Nova. It will lead you to the end of your journey: the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
