Description
Leave the Bar Avenida on your left and after about 20 meters turn left (photo 1 km 0). Turn right at the next crossroads (photo 2 km 0.2), take the hand-left road (photo 3 km 0.5) and keep straight on (photo 4 km 0.6).
Go through a group of houses and take the dirt path (photo 5 km 1.2) that gradually turns into a grass path (photo 6 km 1.2) and then into a stone path (photo 7 km 1.5). Just a few steps further, it will lead you to a big dirt path (photo 8 km 1.6) where you should continue on the right for about one kilometer until you approach some houses (photo 9 km 2.5). Then cross the bridge over the Saa River (photo 10 km 2.7) which will lead you to the main road (photo 11 km 2.9).
Cross the road and keep straight on until a square with a crucifix (photo 12 km 2.9) where you should take the hand-right road, towards Rairos. Go through Rairos (photo 13 km 3.6) and at this point the road will turn into a dirt path (photo 14 km 4.0). At the next crossroads, which is 800 meters ahead, you should continue on the left (photo 15 km 4.8) and straight on (photo 16 km 6.0) for about two kilometers until you approach another crossroads where should keep straight on (photo 17 km 6.5).
At certain moments of the day, this part of the route might be inundated, although it is really easy to wade across (photo 18 km 6.8). The next path will lead you to another paved path where you should continue on the left, towards Reigada Centro (photo 19 km 7.6).
Keep straight on until you approach a crossroads in front of a house and turn left (photo 20 km 7.8) and then, again left towards As Fontes (photo 21 km 7.8). The street will lead you out of the town. 200 meters further you should turn right by the dirt path (photo 22 km 8.0). 800 meters ahead, there is a detour but you should continue on your left (photo 23 km 8.8) to reach a road (photo 24 km 9.0) that you should cross. Follow the grass path that begins just in front of the road (photo 25 km 9.1) and which after 400 meters comes out onto a road (photo 26 km 9.3) where you should continue on the left (photo 27 km 9.4).
Keep straight on for about a half kilometer, until you approach a small dirt path that may be really muddy (photo 28 km 9.8) and leads to a paved path (photo 29 km 10.0) where you should continue on the left. It is the entrance to Monforte.
At the next crossroads, you should keep straight on (photo 30, km 10.1) following the arrows and the boundary marks (photo 31 km 10.2 and photo 32 km 10.4 where you should continue on the right) until you approach the railway tracks (photo 33 km 10.5). Cross them and continue on the left (photo 34 km 10.6) and then on the right just after you have passed the Banco Santander (photo 35 km 11.0). Keep straight on until you reach another road. Cross it and keep straight on by the street with the forbidden traffic signal (photo 36 km 11.4). Pass in front of the Club Fluvial and keep straight on by the narrow street (photo 37 km 11.6) in order to reach the main road. Cross it, go down the slope (photo 38 km 11.7) and continue along the riverside walk (photo 39 km 11.8) until you go through the park (photo 40 km 12.1) and approach the Paseo do Malecón, where you should continue on the right. After a few meters, you will reach one of the hotels of Monforte: the Hotel Puente Romano.
